The Artisan Cake Guild

The Artisan Cake Guild is a small studio in Seattle, WA dedicated to the sugar arts and the art of cake making.

I have been teaching here in Seattle for four years and I have discovered that there are ordinary people finding their art in cake making.  Our students come from all walks of life, from doctors to architects, computer wizards and home makers, lawyers and students, culinary students and jazz musicians. 

There is much comfort in cake making.   There is a sense of accomplishment in making a wonderful cake.

What we do 

 While I love making wedding cakes for my wonderful brides and grooms, I also love teaching cake enthusiasts of all ages the fine art of cake making and the sugar arts.

Because The Artisan Cake Guild is an actual working bakery and cake studio, I schedule classes as students request them.  I am able to carve out time for you on an individual basis, however, small groups of students are welcome.  I am also able to design a class to meet your needs.

A Little Bit About Me

My name is Tobey deChristopher.  I have been baking professionally for over 30 years. 

I opened my studio in Seattle in 2006 as SUGAR! cake studio but decided to change the name to The Artisan Cake Guild which is more appropriate for the kind of work that goes on in this studio.

I am a teaching bakery and the classes have become quite popular with students coming in from Canada, Alaska, Texas, California.  I have had students from India and Kenya as well who have taken classes here while staying in Seattle on vacation.

In Seattle, we are so fortunate to have so many talented cake makers.  I have enjoyed teaching students who have gone on to open their own cake making businesses.  I think this is the most exciting part of having a teaching bakery, watching students succeed.
